This is an industrial design, logo and marketing concept package for a private startup in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The company asked us to assist with design and feasibility studies which would help to form their corporate design language as well as the design and packaging of their first product. This effort would help them complete their initial feasibility studies.

 

The product is a multi-function wifi/ app connected thermometer. while there are many applications for this product its initial purpose was to provide real time alerts for products that needed to be climate controlled in northern climates. While products like the NEST can communicate the general temperature in a room or space this product has numerous dongles that can be submerged in water or attached to a specific objects to communicate a more granular temperature readout. An example would be a hot tub that is in a remote location. when not in use or heated hot tubs tend to freeze and destroy their components in the process. This product can warn you if/ when and before that happens.

 

Like the NEST, there is a (square) ring behind the faceplate which will take you through menu items. This square rotates to the right, or left, 45deg and then springs back into position before moving to the next menu item. This square would be of plastic and milled aluminum and would have satisfying weight and response when in use.
